Saturday 11:15 – 1:00 pm: Traditional Led Primary Series (also called Yoga Chikitsa, meaning “yoga therapy”). Michelle will give a short talk about the science of the practice, then lead us through the entire practice with traditional counts.
Saturday 2:00 – 3:30 pm: Chakras — Tools for Healing and Transformation. Michelle will lead an exploration of the seven chakras — the emotional and psychological energy centers of the body — and discuss how this knowledge can be used to heal and transform ourselves. Information about each chakra will be accompanied by specific mantras.
Sunday: 9:30 – 11:30 am: Introduction to Second (Intermediate) Series (also called Nadi Shodhana, meaning “nerve cleansing”). Michelle will help us explore the first half of Second Series, with gentle modifications to make it accessible and relevant to all participants.
Sunday 12:30 – 2:00 pm: Introduction to Pranayama. Michelle will guide us in the basics of posture, breath awareness, bandhas and concentration, while leading us through a series of specific breath-control exercises that constitute the first half of the traditional Ashtanga Yoga Pranayama sequence.
